World's Biggest Chooses Viking Johnson Couplings

Posted on 01st Aug 2005

Viking Johnson has secured a six-figure order to supply pipe couplings for the Buenos Aires concession, the world’s biggest water and wastewater privatisation contract.

The order, comprising mainly MaxiFit and MaxiDaptor – will help to bring a clean and dependable water supply to most of the city, as part of the second five-year programme of water and sanitation improvements being implemented by concessionaire Aguas Argentinas.

All the products in the high-tolerance MaxiFit range are designed to accommodate plain-ended pipes with different outside diameters. This reduces stocks, because one fitting can connect steel, ductile iron, PVCu, cast iron and asbestos cement.

Aguas Argentinas, a consortium led by Lyonnaise des Eaux and Aguas de Barcelona, has been operating the concession since 1993. It serves a population of 10 million people in Buenos Aires and its suburbs.
