Winning Year For Viking Johnson

Posted on 01st Nov 2006

Pipe joint and repair products specialist Viking Johnson has had an exceptionally good year for new and renewed business, with no less than eleven UK water undertakings selecting the company as its preferred supplier.

Through competitive tender, VJ renewed its agreements with (in alphabetical order) the Midland Purchasing Consortium, Northumbria, South East, South West, Suffolk & Essex, Sutton & East Surrey, United Utilities and the Wessex Purchasing Consortium. In addition, Portsmouth and Southern extended their existing contracts.

The company rounded off the twelve months with a second deal with United Utilities, this time acting on behalf of Welsh Water. The three-year contract, which brings Welsh back into the Viking Johnson fold, includes options for two one-year extensions. It will be serviced through Welsh's logistics provider Frazer Cardiff.

Commenting on the company's performance, Mark Hopes, sales and marketing director - utilities, said : "Global competition and price pressure are ever-present realities in the UK water industry, so it is encouraging to see that quality, service and the uniquely comprehensive range that Viking Johnson offers continue to be a deciding factor for so many.
