A Step Up To Large-diameter Couplings

Posted on 01st Apr 2005

Pipe joints and repair products specialist Viking Johnson manufactured its Large Diameter stepped couplings for a new wastewater treatment plant in Libya.

Thirty DN1600 stepped couplings are making connections between existing asbestos cement mains and new ductile iron pipework on the works at Sorman, some 75 kilometres east of Tripoli on the Libyan coast.

Capable of treating as much as 860m³/hr, the Sorman WwTW has been designed by Engineering Consultant of Utilities (ECOU) on behalf of the client, Sobrata & Sorman Shapya (Municipality). The contractor used for the project was the Arab Union Construction Company.

Viking Johnson’s Large Diameter range includes conventional couplings and flange adaptors designed for pipes from DN350 to DN5000 and are capable of accommodating pressures up to 100 bar.

Viking Johnson has had a continuous presence in Libya for the last fifteen years, as a supplier of pipe joints for the on-going Great Man Made River project.

2005 is Viking Johnson’s 75th anniversary. Viking Johnson is proud to have been associated with many prestigious projects world wide and plans to continue this tradition by continually improving and refining it’s products and services.
