Supporting a 57km Pipeline Project for NE England

Posted on 02nd Mar 2026

Viking Johnson has supplied critical UltraGrip Amplified DN700 & DN800 couplings and flange adaptors to Farrans Construction for Northumbrian Water’s major Tees Pipeline Project.

The project involves a 57km pipeline designed to replace aging trunk mains and improve water resilience for Barnard Castle, Darlington, and Teesside. A key engineering highlight includes a crossing 12 metres beneath the River Tees.

Viking Johnson’s UltraGrip restrained fittings were chosen for their 16-bar rating and high construction tolerances, allowing for the precise alignment of ductile iron and steel pipework. The inclusion of dismantling joints will also ensure simplified future maintenance for the network.

"We were very pleased with Viking Johnson's support on this project. The products arrived in good time & they offered advice and travelled to site to provide technical training and show best practice to our installation teams."
Barry McDonagh - Project Manager - Farrans Construction
