New Pipe Coupling Makes Ends Meet

Posted on 01st May 2007

Viking Johnson has added a 150mm x 175mm reducing coupling to its range of UltraGrip high tolerance pipe joint products with end restraint.

Introduced to meet the requirements of major European and Scandinavian water utilities, the additional size adds even more flexibility to the task of joining plain-ended pipes with a slight variation in nominal bore.

UltraGrip pipe couplings, flange adaptors, Pecatadaptors and end caps are supplied complete with unique grippers that offer full end restraint to most pipeline materials equally effectively to prevent axial movement due to the internal pressure in the pipeline. This makes them particularly suitable for transitions between grey cast iron and PE when repairing or rehabilitating pipelines.

The convenience of UltraGrip is further enhanced by its exceptionally wide tolerance range of up to 44mm, which simplifies stockholding and installation alike. In appropriate cases, pipes of different materials and diameters can be joined by a single UltraGrip coupling.

End caps are used to blank off pipe ends - permanently, or temporarily when a main is bypassed during rehabilitation, for example - and to provide threaded off-takes to existing pipework.

All products in the UltraGrip range, which extends from DN50 to DN300, are coated in Rilsan Nylon 11 and supplied pre-assembled, with captive non-rotating bolt heads that can be tightened with a single spanner.

Extended sleeve length makes them easy to position when site conditions are difficult, and grippers remain visible after installation so that the end load restraint can be confirmed.
