| 1. The Hitchin Site will comply with the requirements of applicable legislation set by Government or other recognised organisations. This will include ensuring applicable environmental legislation is adhered to throughout all of the operations and product designs.
2. It is the policy of the Hitchin Site to pursue environmentally responsible practices and procedures and to maintain internationally recognised certification to ISO 14001.
3. This policy statement and environmental performance information of the Hitchin site will be made available to interested relevant parties and the public upon request.
4. The Hitchin Site will operate plant and design products so as to minimise the environmental effects on employees, neighbours and customers as far as is reasonably practical using best available techniques not entailing excessive cost.
5. The Hitchin Site will work with enforcement agencies to resolve any identified environmental problems and to communicate such problems openly to those likely to be affected by them.
6. The Hitchin Site will minimise energy and material usage as far as practical and will recycle and reuse materials wherever cost, product performance and quality allow.
7. The Hitchin Site will promote employee awareness of the Company Environmental Policy Statement and build environmental responsibility into all aspects of the operation.
8. The Hitchin Site will ensure that any serious environmental occurrence is reported to the Managing Director of Glynwed Pipe Systems Limited.
9. The Hitchin Site will monitor any significant legislation, changes to existing legislation and any new legislation that may affect the company and site operations.
10. The Site Director of the Hitchin Site will:-
· Ensure that this policy is implemented within the Hitchin site and reviewed annually.
· Nominate a senior manager to monitor and to report to him on the effectiveness of the implementation of this policy within the companies.
· Have a report submitted every month, including information on incidents having environmental implications, principal developments relating to policy implementation and progress towards specific long-term objectives.
· Report immediately to the Managing Director of Crane Limited any occurrence having serious environmental implications, such report to be followed by written details as soon as practicable.
· Ensure that a report on environmental implications during the previous period and principal developments relating to the implementation of the policies and progress on objectives is submitted every half year to the Managing Director of Crane Limited.
11. The Hitchin Site will establish an environmental management programme to achieve its objectives and targets necessary for continual improvements and prevention of pollution.
